The SESARC FAQ
1) What is the Southeastern Skunk Ape Research Center?
-
The Southeastern Skunk Ape Research Center is a scientific organization
composed of individuals seriously interested in studying and researching
unexplained bipedal hominids. By combining their mutual talents, areas
of expertise and investigative efforts, they are enabled to delve into
the scientific investigation of the "Bigfoot" phenomena.
-
A private organization; it collects and investigates data on these unexplained
events, promotes proper investigation methodology in the examination of
specialized phenomena and general fortean subjects, and reports significant
data to its members and the public.
-
2) What is the SESARC Mission?
The SESARC investigates and explores "Bigfoot" and related phenomena.
Our broad mission is to consider evidence that is commonly accepted and
to weigh other evidence with the same level of serious inquiry. No evidentiary
subject matter should be discarded out of hand. This practice has been
common among "biologicals" when confronted with evidence that does not
fit their concept of "Bigfoot" as an animal.
We feel evidence should be considered regardless of implication!
3) Who can join the SESARC?
-
People who are invited to participate.
-
4) Do you believe that "Bigfoot" is a biological creature?
Yes.
5) Do you think that "Bigfoot" only exists in the Pacific northwest?
No. "Bigfoot" does exist outside of that particular geographic confine.
6) I read your introduction page and you seem to believe "Bigfoot" may
be
something other than a completely biological entity.
Is this true?
-
No. However, we are keeping our minds open to presented evidence and not
just popular opinion. No one person or group of people will dictate our
ability to examine and weigh evidence as it is presented to us.
-
We
are not paranormal investigators - we are scientific investigators!
-
SESARC is pursuing a theory about the true nature of this phenomenon. We
believe that there exists a biological entity (e.g. "Bigfoot") that is
a natural inhabitant of our planet. We believe (like Krantz, Meldrum) that
it is a large primate.
-
However, we believe that many reports of "Bigfoot" behavior and activities
fall beyond the known behavior patterns and normally reported interactions
of the "Patterson" type creature with human witnesses. These erratic reports
may be the work of another creature. This second creature has a general
physical similarity to the "Patterson" type "Bigfoot." Yet, when this second
type of creature interacts with homo sapiens and/or our civilization, it
exhibits unique behavior patterns.
-
Note: We think that this may be a subspecies of the larger
"Bigfoot" population or another type of creature entirely (e.g. "a Gorilla
vs. a Chimp"). We have no concrete answer for this hypothesis.
-
However, we refuse to concede that only ONE type of creature exists. The
known evidence and reputable witness experience points to the possibility
of a second species.
-
8) Then, what do you believe "Bigfoot" really is?
-
We theorize that it may be an unknown primate. However, we have valid evidence
for an alternate theories. We simply keep our minds open to other possibilities.
-
9) What are some particular things we need to know about SESARC?
-
We have our own theories about this phenomena.
-
We request that our visitors keep an open mind regarding the information
we present. We feel our ideas are as valid as any of the theories prevalent
today.
-
We weigh evidence according to a strict protocol. We never take evidence
for granted.
-
We test for deception.
-
We use scientific method.
-
We want to work with other investigators. However, we will not sacrifice
our integrity to "fit in" with other investigators or investigation teams.
10) What about "Bigfoot" in Georgia?
We believe that this creature does exist in Georgia. In fact, we believe
that it exists in many varied environments throughout the southeastern
United States.
11) If "Bigfoot" is an animal, why don't we have a body?
If we could answer that question all of this would be moot.
We pose a better question: If "Bigfoot" is an animal,
why DON'T we have a body?
12) Who has the best theory?
-
We have always supported Dr. Grover Krantz, Dr. Jeff Meldrum and other
scientists. Yet, we consider other ideas that have similar merit (e.g.
John Keel). This is a big mystery. It is wrong to discard the uncomfortable
and ignore relevant information for the sake of assimilation. We are a
scientific investigation center - not a social club - therefore, we are
obligated to examine all evidence and weigh it according to merit and relevance.
-
13) Will you be at the next "Bigfoot" Con and sell stuff?
-
Maybe. Maybe not. We will stay above the Internet fray. It is better to
focus our energy on solving this mystery than to be pulled into the many
juvenile arguments which take place at conventions and on websites. Still,
we might have some tee shirts - so, stay tuned.
-
15) Will you listen to anyone?
-
No. There are some truly insane people in this field. We will not waste
time on known evildoers or maniacs. However, we will not discard a sincere
report because it does not fit into some predetermined mold.
-
16) What should a visitor to SESARC know?
We ask that you disregard the Internet junk about SESARC. We are scientific
in our method, open in our interpretation.
Please don't let some know-it-all rob you of valuable insight
into this mystery because they disagree with SESARC; rather, YOU decide
for YOURSELF what is or is not relevant.
We respect your theories and views. We ask
the same of you.
